Is Spring ever going to come to this region of the world?
We have had such
cold, windy weather.
Maybe this is
normal and I am just
getting old and forgetful
of other years and
springtime weather.
Anyway, I know that
everyone is ready for nice
balmy weather. I guess we
just don’t think about
enjoying each day no
matter what the weather is
outside.
The goldfinches are back and busy eating at the feeder.
They are such a
colorful bird to watch.
I made a batch of
grape jelly and sugar
water today as I expect
the orioles and
hummingbirds anytime.
They both arrived
May 11th last
year.
The orioles don’t
stay very long, but while
they are here they really
eat the oranges and jelly
I set out for them.
My vegetable garden was planted April 27, so I hope all
of those little seeds will
survive.
I am so anxious to
plant flowers also.
My gardens were
tilled this past weekend.
The rich, black soil looks
SO ready to accommodate
the beauty of annual and
perennial flowers that
will bloom all summer long
– not to mention all the
wonderful vegetables that
grow abundantly in our
wonderful soil.
Well, controversy abounds in Edinburg.
Seems the line has
been drawn---MALE vs
FEMALE.
It all started down
at Cenex a couple of weeks
ago. It
seems Louise Pederson
didn’t want to park her
car next to Nancy
Johnson’s during
“coffee time” as the
two cars were the same
make and the same
color----according to the
ladies.
Well, the men
begged to differ saying
the two cars were not at
all the same color. Folks, this could be serious business. Nancy just may get into Louise’s car and drive off after
having coffee.
Louise has a
legitimate “beef” as
Leroy (Louise’s husband)
had someone walk off with
his leather jacket after
church one morning.
(It was returned).
If a jacket can be
mistakenly taken, why not
a car????
I am SO glad to
report the controversy has
been settled.
Nancy’s car is
“sandstone beige” and
Louise’s car is
“platinum beige”.
Took some doing,
but Louise found her car
color in her car guide
book and Nancy found out
her car’s color down at
the local auto body shop.
Whew, we all can
rest easy now----but it
was fun while it lasted!!!
A big welcome to Chris and Angie Dubois on purchasing the
Edinburg Café.
Angie is a
wonderful chef and we are
SO glad for them.
They are a young
couple with two terrific
little boys. What an asset to Edinburg to have the café still active.
Angie is a native
“Edinburger” and her
husband is just from down
the road around the Lankin
– Fordville area. The
food is terrific. I highly
recommend the “NORBY
DINER” as a wonderful
place to eat.
Also, huge congratulations to Marvin and Effie Ulberg on
65 years of wedded bliss.
They celebrate this
anniversary today. What a
milestone for the two of
them!
I enjoy visiting
with them very often and
it brings to mind SO many
memories of growing up in
Edinburg.
Marvin is a former
mayor and has seen many
changes in our wonderful
little town.
I will continually keep you informed of the activities in
Edinburg.
Edinburg thrives on
the caring and committed
people who live here.
There truly are
“ANGELS ON EARTH” in
Edinburg. That is a big “PLUG” for our WELCA Spring Breakfast this
coming Thursday.
The theme is ANGELS
and we have plenty of them
right here in Edinburg.
Have a wonderful
day and will “talk”
later.
